Periodontal Disease Treatment

Dr. Clark and his highly skilled and knowledgeable hygienist, Tammy, are participating in a periodontal treatment program. This scientifically based program precisely assesses your gum status, determines the amount of damage that has occurred, indicates how aggressive the treatment will need to be, and gives you the tools to keep your mouth healthy after treatment is complete. Patients who have completed this gum treatment protocol report a noticeable improvement in their overall sense of health and well-being as well as knowing how much better their gums look and feel.

The following is a brief description of the steps and tools needed to successfully reverse periodontal disease.

Periodontal Wellness Assessment

1. Bleeding and Probe depth measurements

2. Periodontal bacterial analysis

3. Systemic health risk analysis using blood tests for A1c and CRP

4. Laser Treatment

5. Deep Cleaning as needed

6. Complete Home Care including

  • Special power toothbrush
  • Irrigator
  • Toothpaste and Rinse
  • Nutritional supplements that enhance healing

HbA1c. This test reveals how well your body is controlling the sugar in your blood. It is performed at the lab with the same blood sample taken with the finger prick for the CRP test. The scores always come down with successful periodontal disease treatment unless there are other factors or disease processes going on.

Oral DNA tests using saliva.

a. Levels of the eleven most pathological bacteria that will be found in your blood stream.

b. Genetic predisposition to destructive periodontal disease. 30% of americans have a genetic marker than means they have a weakness or greater susceptibility to gum disease. If you are one of these individuals, it means we must be more aggressive and very consistent in treatment and home care.
